How do you create a psychologically safe environment?

There is a lot of talk in the coaching world about the concept of Psychological Safety. Especially regarding its powerful impact on generating a positive workplace culture.
We are thrilled to have worked with experts to create a new Cascade worksheet combining Strengths with Psychological Safety. This resource will help you and your clients discover what you need to feel safe, and how to create and nurture that setting for others.
The new worksheet is the main feature of this newsletter, we also cover:
- A new Facebook group for Strengths Coaches wanting to use Psychological Safety.
- How to download the latest Cascade update.
- More ways for you to get the most out of being part of the Cascade Community.
Combining Strengths with Psychological Safety

Lots of coaches are increasingly aware of the importance of Psychological Safety. Research shows it’s the number 1 factor influencing team performance and success. Where it exists, individuals feel welcome, able to speak up, give feedback, experiment and learn. Which results in an innovative and productive team. Something we all want to help create.
Therefore, we’ve been delighted to work with a team of CliftonStrengths® coaches, all certified in Psychological Safety, to create a new Strengths Advantage worksheet. It’s based on LeaderFactor’s 4 Stages of Psychological Safety and has their seal of approval.
Find out more about this new resource in our blog post. We also share some helpful examples of how to use the worksheet. It’ll help you – and your clients – understand how different Strengths contribute to creating a safe environment. Plus hear from the four coaches who helped us design it.
“Psychological Safety is a belief that one will not be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns or mistakes.”
AMY EDMONDSON, HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL
Dig deeper with other coaches
There’s now a dedicated Facebook group for Strengths Coaches using Psychological Safety. It was set up by the coaches involved in designing our new worksheet. So if this is an area you’re working on, or wish to explore further, you can request to join the group.
