Custom Strengths Advantage: Making a Powerful Tool even more Special

Cascade Connection news - read the highlights of 2021 and how we've made significant steps forward in strengthening the Strengths movement this year

One of our core values is helping you create new opportunities for coaching insights and conversations. In simple, effective and efficient ways. So we’re super excited to have launched a new Cascade feature to do just that.

In this issue, discover…

Create your own Strengths Advantage Worksheet

Strengthening the Strengths Movement through 20 Different Strengths Advantage Worksheets

Cascade’s range of Strengths Advantage worksheets are a hugely popular tool. They help people to focus and direct their strengths in a specific situation, increasing performance and effectiveness.

Currently there are 20 Strengths Advantage worksheets in Cascade covering a wide range of situations. But even this number doesn’t tackle every scenario you might come across. So we’ve gone one step further – and developed a way for you to create your own worksheet.

For example, perhaps you’re working with a group and you want to focus their strengths towards a specific set of competencies or corporate values. So we now have an option where you can create your own custom set of questions for the Strengths Advantage worksheet. The possibilities are endless!

IMPORTANT: This new option is only available with the Bonus Pack and the latest version of Cascade. So make sure you have version 2.0r05h which has just been released. Check out the section below for more on how to upgrade.

“This new Custom option to create my own Strengths Advantage worksheets is a true game changer for me. It will open up so many more options whilst not impacting my time. This is truly empowering the coaches.”

Deon Rademeyer – Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, Sydney, Australia.

Continuing our Coaching Celebrations

In the last issue, we were delighted to launch our Coaching Celebration Stories as a way of highlighting your successes. We hope you found it inspirational and encouraging!

We’re thrilled to feature another story in this issue…

Team Collaboration

Jennifer McNelly shares how the Board of Directors discovered the importance of a well rounded team.

Do you have a story to share? It’s super easy to submit your coaching celebration. All you need to do is fill in our online form and answer the prompt questions.

New Features in Cascade

Download the new version of Cascade to benefit from the latest features. Here are the highlights:

  • Create your own Strengths Advantage worksheet. In the Settings section of the Cascade Menu, you can enter your custom questions for your desired topic or situation. Once complete, select ‘Custom’ at the bottom of the drop-down list in the Strengths Advantage page to see your very own worksheet.
  • See the new look for the Team Grid. Showing the top 10 or more themes in the Team Grid can make the page look cluttered. We’ve adjusted the shading of the cells for themes 6-15 and 29-34 to create a cleaner look.
  • Hide the Lesser Theme narrative in the My 34 reports. The words for the bottom 5 themes in the My 34 report are not always appropriate. There’s now a button at the top of the page to hide this text.

The latest version is 2.0r05h (see more details in the Change Log). Upgrade your copy today. Don’t forget that if you have a current Support license, you can upgrade for free!

If you need help updating your version of Cascade or renewing your support package, please contact us.

You can also schedule a Zoom meeting so that we can guide you through updating or using Cascade. Visit our calendar to book a free session.

Thank you for Strengthening the Strengths Movement with us

Cascade Connection news - read the highlights of 2021 and how we've made significant steps forward in strengthening the Strengths movement this year

As 2021 draws to close, and we have the opportunity to reflect back on this unusual year, we wanted to pause and say “thank you”.

Despite the challenges 2021 has thrown at us all, we are proud to have made some significant steps forward in our mission – strengthening the Strengths movement. You, the Cascade Community, have played a big part in that progress. We are truly grateful for your support.

So in this issue, join us to explore the highlights of what we’ve achieved together in 2021, including:

  • New resources you’ve helped shape and are now actively using.
  • Advances made in new topics, such as mindset resilience and psychological safety, and how these are deepening coaching insights and impact.
  • Long-standing reports that continue to help coaches around the world.

We hope you find this round-up inspiring and encouraging – and also helpful in making sure you’re fully equipped with all the resources you need for 2022.

Powerful coaching tools – key new resources in 2021

Strengthening the Strengths Movement through 20 Different Strengths Advantage Worksheets

With our aim of strengthening the Strengths movement, our focus is never static. We’re always working with you to explore new ways to increase coaching effectiveness, both for you and for your clients. For example, we now have over 20 different Strengths Advantage worksheets to help you guide your clients to apply their Strengths successfully in a wide range of scenarios.

Helping you find what you need

We also want to make your life as a coach as simple as possible. So with an ever-expanding list of Cascade tools, we spent some time this summer collating everything together to produce two guides to help you quickly and easily find which resources you need. We’d suggest bookmarking these for frequent reference!

A good place to start

If you’re still quite new to Cascade – or in need of a refresher – we also created a Getting Started video this year. In it, Cascade founder Richard talks through how to use Cascade and its main features.

Personal is best

Finally, we’ve had lots of positive feedback on a recent new feature in Cascade that allows you to write your own title text at the top of a report. It’s such a simple thing! But it’s amazing how making a report more personal to better match a client’s situation makes the world of difference. Discover more here.

Digging deeper into well-being topics

In a year full of challenges, there’s rightly been a deepening focus on well-being across the coaching community and beyond. So in response, we’ve developed new resources to help us all expand our understanding of well-being topics through the power of Strengths.

Psychological Safety
One area we've worked on in 2021 to further our aim of strengthening the Strengths movement is Psychological Safety

One big area of interest has been Psychological Safety. Particularly how to nurture it in workplace environments to improve team health and performance. So one of our most important areas of progress this year has been the creation of a Psychological Safety Strengths Advantage worksheet. We were thrilled to do this in collaboration with several coaches qualified in the topic and to get the endorsement of LeaderFactor to base the resource on their model of the 4 Stages of Psychological Safety.

Check out our blog with more background info on this topic. You’ll discover how combining it with Strengths can really help you understand what’s needed to create a safe environment.

Mindset resilience
Our new resource on Mindset Resilience has also helped us in our mission of strengthening the Strengths movement

The second big highlight for us under this wide topic of well-being was the development of a new resource on mindset resilience. Again, something much needed in these current times. We created this new Strengths Advance worksheet jointly with Laura Everest, whose own story of finding mental toughness after tragedy is truly inspirational.

Read our blog on Laura’s story, and explore how her experiences and the new resource will help you widen your coaching offering.

Much-loved reports still going strong

In a survey of our Facebook group earlier this year, we were fascinated to discover the most popular Cascade resource. The result? The Brings & Needs Report!

The Power of 2 report is another favourite among the Cascade Community

By unpacking what each of a client’s top 5 themes “brings” and “needs”, this report provides a brilliant insight into how they thrive. It’s unique to Cascade. So definitely add it to your coaching arsenal if you haven’t already!

We’ve also enhanced another popular resource – The Power of 2 – to encompass The Power of Me. Again, this report provides powerful new insights for your clients in how their themes blend to make them uniquely equipped.

It’s also great for creating personal statements as the report provides key theme phrases that can be combined. With endless combinations, you and your clients can pick phrases that resonate best and will be the most helpful for them to lean into going forwards.

Get ready for 2022

If you haven’t yet upgraded to the latest version of Cascade, why not use the quiet period after the festivities to download the update and get yourself ready for next year?!

Lots of the new resources detailed above are contained within the latest version. So you do need to have this in place to get the most out of Cascade. Follow our how-to guide for instructions on how to upgrade:

How to update Cascade to the latest version

Don’t forget that you need to have renewed your support package to be able to access the latest version. You’ll get access to all the upgrades and great new features for 12 months. Plus benefit from full technical support during this period too.

Add a Personal Touch to your Cascade Reports

Cascade Connection news - Discover how to make your coaching reports more personal

The new release of Cascade has a great way to make your coaching reports even more personal for your clients.

Learn how to easily tailor your reports below – and check out the other new features in the latest version:

How to make your coaching reports special

One of the great new features in the latest version of Cascade is super simple – but very powerful. We’ve added a new feature that allows you to insert your own text at the top of the individual reports. Enabling you to make your coaching reports better fit the personal situation for each client.

We call it a “Report Topping”. You can choose whether to use the same phrase for everyone, or create something unique for each person.

Why have we done this?
Cascade report header personal text - A great way to create more personal coaching reports

It came about following a suggestion from Deon Rademeyer. He was looking for new ways to make the Cascade reports more relevant for his clients. Working with the military, he specifically wanted to detail their rank, such as Sargent Major or Captain.

You can now add a person’s job role, position or military rank – or any other text – to make the report special for the person. Some coaches have suggested adding the name of the team or a brief tip on how to use the report. The choice is yours.

New Strengths Advantage worksheets

Another significant development in the Cascade update is the addition of three new Strengths Advantage worksheets. These resources help clients apply their strengths in a range of scenarios and we are excited by the increased depth and breadth of options the new worksheets give you.

Combining Strengths with Psychological Safety

Psychological Safety Strengths Advantage in Cascade

Several coaches are currently exploring the concept of Psychological Safety when working with teams. It’s a big new area of focus generally in the coaching, management and HR world.

LeaderFactor™ have set out the 4 Stages of Psychological Safety and offer certification in their model. There is a strong correlation how Strengths can enhance the Psychological Safety for individuals and teams.

We are delighted to work with a group of CliftonStrengths® coaches and LeaderFactor™ to produce a new worksheet in Cascade. This brings Strengths and Psychological Safety together in a single focus. It can help teams become more welcoming and innovative in their approach, driving forward performance.

Thank you to coaches Alicia Santamaria, Tracy Philips, Marjan Mahoutchian and Michelle Horgan for your enthusiasm, input and guidance on creating the new worksheet.

STOP PRESS: Watch out for a big feature on Strengths and Psychological Safety in the next issue of Cascade Connection!

Focusing on Career Development

You’ll also find two more new worksheets in the latest version of Cascade. These are both designed to help with Career Development and in particular, clients moving to a new role. Thank you to Murray Guest, who inspired their development, and to Jennifer Vancil for her assistance.

Create PDFs for your labels and lanyards

Cascade PDF strengthsfinder reports team email zip

We’ve added a couple of new buttons to make it easy for you to create PDF files of labels and lanyards. Using this, you can now quickly make a set of PDFs ready for printing or to send directly to your customer.

It’s also now possible to create a PDF for a single page of labels, or run off all the PDFs for several pages. We hope this timesaver will make it much easier to prepare labels or lanyards for your in-person workshops.

Why did we do this? Because you asked us to! We take careful note of any feedback in our Cascade Strengths Community on Facebook and discovered recently that several coaches like to create a PDF of their labels instead of printing them directly from Cascade. We therefore decided to make it super easy for you to do this. Thank you to Dawn Potter Sander for the original Facebook post that started off the conversation!

The new version of Cascade is 2.0r05f is now available. To update your copy of Cascade, check out our guide:

As we’ve explained above, the main improvements to Cascade in this latest release include:

  • Report Toppings to add extra text to make individual coaching reports more personal.
  • New Strengths Advantage worksheets for Psychological Safety and Career Development.
  • PDF creation for labels and lanyards.

Plus there are a few other minor tweaks to improve the process of importing themes to the Theme Table and creating PDFs. You can check out the full list of changes in the Change Log.

Cascade Connection news global coaching community

We love how the Cascade Community connects coaches from all around the world. Recently we hit a new milestone of coaches benefiting from Cascade in more than 60 countries!

So as more people start using Cascade, we’d love to make it as easy as possible for everyone in our global coaching community – new and old – to get the best from the reports. We want to make sure that being part of the Cascade Community, and using our resources, makes your life easier.

Here’s what’s covered in this issue:

Strengths Bring Need Cascade popular report

Intrigued to know which Cascade resource is most helpful, we recently asked our Facebook group members.

The most popular answer was The Brings & Needs Report. The simple and invaluable document highlights 5 themes per page, describing what each one brings and what it needs to thrive.

This report is unique to Cascade. It helps both coaches and clients quickly understand the breadth of their themes.

It can also be a real time-saver. For example, have you ever prepared a workshop session and arrived to discover that one person hasn’t read any of their CliftonStrengths® assessment reports?! The Brings and Needs Report provides a brilliant, quick overview of their themes so they can still participate in your session.

Are you New? Welcome to the Cascade Community!

Global Cascade Community Cliftonstrengths strengths finder
Cascade’s global coaching community

The Cascade Community continues to grow rapidly. There are now thousands of coaches from more than 60 countries worldwide benefiting from the Cascade reports. We especially love welcoming new members. So we’re thrilled to have you join our global coaching community!

To help those new to Cascade – or as a reminder for those who aren’t so new – here are a few pointers to help you find and use the resources you need…

Getting Started

A nice and easy way to understand Cascade is to watch our Getting Started video. It’ll show you how to set up Cascade, import your themes from Gallup, create reports and more.

Which Report to Use and When?

With so many Cascade resources now available, you could find the options a bit overwhelming. So we recently published two new guides – one for individual coaching; and one for team or management level coaching. Each guide identifies a variety of coaching situations and recommends a suitable Cascade report to use in each scenario:

Making the Most of the Theme Table

One of the biggest tips we give new users is to save all your clients or staff in one copy of Cascade whenever possible. This gives you the greatest flexibility going forwards. Plus it makes things simpler when there’s a new Cascade version.

Once you’ve added your contacts, use the blue left-hand columns in the Theme Table to identify the company, team, cohort or workshop session etc you want. Then you can select just that group in the Team Grid to filter their names.

After adding people to the Theme Table, click on the Reset Formatting button. Then in the Team Grid, click on the Refresh Page button. These two steps will help the rest of Cascade run smoothly.

To remove someone from the Theme Table, highlight their name and themes, then press the Delete key. Click on the blue A/Z sort button in column G to move the empty row to the bottom of the table.

PDF Troubleshooting

When creating PDF reports, most initial errors are fixed by checking the Folder Path in the Settings section of the Cascade Menu. Click on Insert Path, then Test Path. In Windows, make sure the path starts with C:\… and not http:\\…

Help with the Reports

Cascade website help

At the top of the Cascade pages, you can find options to adjust the report and select the number of themes to show. For help with any of the reports, click on the green ? to see our dedicated web page for that report.

Need more Help?

  • We have a comprehensive online Support Section. Here you’ll find a wide range of articles giving help and guidance on specific topics. Check this out first to quickly access the answers you need.
  • If you’re still stuck, we’d love to help you get sorted. Use the Contact Us form to request assistance. If we can’t help you with a simple email reply, we offer the opportunity to connect via Zoom to guide you personally.

What’s Coming Next with Cascade?

We are continually investing to improve and develop Cascade in response to your feedback, the needs of the Strengths coaching environment, and technological advances.

This is a heads-up that we are currently working away behind the scenes with other coaches, getting a new update ready for you. We’re hoping to release it in late September. We think it’ll add a bit more sparkle to your coaching offering! 😊

For example, we’re making changes that will enable you to make the individual reports even more personal for your clients. Plus adding a new Strengths Advantage worksheet on the topic of deepening team trust and collaboration.

We’ll be sharing more information about this new Cascade release at the end of September.

How to use Strengths to build Resilience and Wellbeing

Cascade Connection news

In this issue we share an amazing testimony of how focusing on Strengths in the midst of difficulty can help develop incredible mental resilience – and enable recovery. Plus with the release of Gallup’s new book on Wellbeing at Work, we explore how and why a Strengths approach can increase wellbeing.

Excitingly, both stories have led to the creation of two new Cascade worksheets you won’t want to miss out on… read on to discover more!

Developing Mindset Resilience

How do you recover from a setback? Or find the road to recovery when it all goes horribly wrong?

mindset resilience strengths mental toughness Cascade

Using Strengths to focus her mind, alongside the numerous medical procedures, she managed to get herself literally back on to her feet.

Coach and author Laura Everest shares her compelling story of how deepening her ‘mindset resilience’ was key to her recovery when she was left with devastating injuries after being hit by a car when out running.

Laura Everest Gallup Strengths Coach

We’ve been delighted to work with Laura – and her book ‘Rebuilt to Last’ – to develop a new Cascade worksheet for coaches to use with clients facing challenging situations.

Find out more in our Mindset Resilience post.

The new Mindset Resilience and Wellbeing worksheets are in the Strengths Advantage section of Cascade, part of the new release in May 2021 (more details below).

Taking Action to Improve Wellbeing

Gallup’s new book Wellbeing at Work is packed full of resources and tips to increase the five main areas of wellbeing: Career, Social, Financial, Physical and Community.

wellbeing Taking action with Cascade Strengths reports

With a primary focus on how to improve employee wellbeing and mental health in the workplace, the authors explain that in order to make a fundamental difference to our wellbeing, we need to take positive action. The best way to do this, is by using our Strengths.

Therefore we have created a new Cascade worksheet to use alongside the book, which demonstrates how to build on Strengths to increase the wellbeing scores in each of the five main areas.

The worksheet is simple to use. Displaying each element of wellbeing and a person’s top Strengths, the first part is to note the wellbeing score. Then, use the body of the worksheet to list actions against each strength that will help to increase the score.

The new Mindset Resilience and Wellbeing worksheets are in the Strengths Advantage section of Cascade, part of the new release in May 2021 (more details below).

New version of Cascade – v2.0r05e

The new version of Cascade is 2.0r05e is now available. To update your copy of Cascade, check out our guide: How to update Cascade to the latest version.

Improvements to Cascade include:

  • New Strengths Advantage worksheets for Mindset Resilience and Wellbeing.
  • Skip All Duplicates feature when Importing Themes. Choose to skip all the people from the Gallup export file who are already in Cascade. Previously, you could only skip one person at a time.
  • Formatting improvements for the reports in German.
  • Other minor tweaks to improve user experience.

Need more clients? Working with teams?

In this issue we look at simple solutions to get more clients and build collaboration in a team. Learn from Strengths coaches Dani Grieveson and Antonia Milkop who share how they use the Cascade reports to make a practical difference to their clients. Plus check out our latest videos to help you expand your Cascade knowledge.

How can I get more clients?

Dani Grieveson business strengths coach more clients

Growing a business can be hard. Dani Grieveson, a business coach in the UK, shares her story of how she recently helped a businesswoman build on her Strengths to find and secure new clients. She writes:

In a recent coaching session with a lady running her own business, I was asked how she could grow her business with more clients.

Identifying her CliftonStrengths®, we looked deeply into her top themes. One report I found useful for her development was the ‘Brings & Needs’ report in Cascade. It enabled her to understand the environment she needs for herself, so she can create the best opportunities for success.

Creating a Power List

Particularly pertinent was ‘The Power of Me’ tool in Cascade.  Looking at her top themes, together we created a ‘Power List’ of her best words that most describe her and accurately what her business offers. They felt natural to her as they resonate with her top themes.

grow business with more clients power words

Between last week’s session and this week’s session, she held three new client conversations. Choosing to use her ‘Power List’ of words in these conversations, all three clients converted! Winning the new contracts fulfilled her need for business growth.

By applying her ‘Power List’ of words to conversations, she is able to engage her clients on a new and deeper level, resulting in more business.

Having discovered who she really is through her CliftonStrengths® themes and Cascade, she has experienced an outcome of both personal and professional growth.

To find out more about Dani Grieveson and how she helps people and businesses succeed, visit www.liftthislife.co.uk

How can I build better collaboration in teams?

Many of you will know the Cascade Team Summary report, which visually represents the themes for a team as a whole. By showing details for the top 5 themes of the team, members understand their team’s identity. Using the statements at the bottom of the page, they appreciate what the team brings, what it needs and how it is motivated.

Antonia Milkop in New Zealand takes the team top 5 themes to another level. By creating an entry in Cascade’s Theme Table with the top 5 themes for the team and using it within The Power of 2 worksheet, she helps team members gain new insights. She writes:

Considering how each individual player in a team contributes to the combined dominant talents of their team, I use The Power of 2 worksheet. Place the Team’s top 5 themes across the top and a member’s themes down the side.

team collaboration strengths power of 2 Cascade more clients

A team member can look at their own themes and how they might enhance the strengths of the combined team – the “Team DNA”.

Arranging Input
Antonia Milkop Gallup strengths coach New Zealand

For example; one of the Team’s dominant talents could be Input®, and team member may not have the Input® theme near the top. They can ask themselves: “How might my other dominant talents ‘feed’ this Input® talent of the team’s DNA?”

A person with the talent of Arranger® could organise an online system for the team to store any useful information and knowledge to find at a later date. The person with Arranger® may not have the ‘need’ to go off and collate all this information, but they will thrive in designing an organised system to help the team store their information!

Contributing to the team’s theme of Input® will help their team thrive and flourish.

Dawn’s story is special. She reminded me that we really do have what it takes to get through challenging times when we find ourselves suddenly forced to be a caregiver.

The Cascade tools gave me pause to proactively think about engaging my strengths in a potential caregiver mode to my spouse.

These self-awareness questions go a long way in supporting caregivers to ask for what they need, and in return give what is most helpful to their loved one.

As a coach, I can see how helpful this clarity would be for my clients who are weathering the storm of a loved one’s crisis.

Turn up the Power

The Power of 2 and the recently introduced Power of Me worksheets are proving to be very popular. We have stepped them up to the next level, from just the top 5 themes, to now show themes 6 – 10.

Chose from the radio buttons at the top of the page to show the top 5 or the themes 6 – 10 on each axis. The Power of Me worksheet can now show the top 5 across the top and the next 5 themes down the side. This is particularly helpful when most of the top 5 themes are in the same domain.

Thank you Holly and Deon for your suggestions that led to these improvements!

Expanding Theme Dynamics with the Power of Me

Cascade Connection Strengths News

Have you ever combined two things and been surprised at the outcome? Think sweet and salty popcorn for example! It’s the same with Strengths themes. You might understand them fully as individual themes. But what if you combine them?

Cascade’s new The Power of Me worksheet does just that. It helps you blend your themes to gain new insights.

Read on to hear from coaches Holly Magnuson and Ron Johnson. They both share their personal experiences of this recent addition to the Cascade set of tools for Strengths Coaches.

The Power of Me

power of me theme dynamics Gallup Cascade

A greater awareness of who you are and how you tick will increase your confidence in yourself as a coach and inspire confidence in your clients. So the more insights you have, and can share, the better.

By creating powerful combinations of your top themes, The Power of Me worksheet in Cascade will help you explore theme dynamics with fresh insights. The worksheet enables you to easily mix the descriptive words from one theme with the role of another. Like sweet and salty popcorn, the results can be fascinating!

For example, a person with the themes of Analytical® and Harmony® might result in ‘A questioning negotiator’. Analytical® with Focus® can be ‘A data-driven goal setter’. Harmony® with Focus® could be ‘A practical prioritizer’.

Find out more here. Or to try out the Power of Me worksheet, head to the Power of 2 section in your Cascade software. At the top, there is the option to select the theme element, choose The Power of Me. (NB. You will need Cascade version 2.0r05c. Find out how to update to the latest version here.)

Fresh Theme Dynamics – Holly Magnuson

Holly Magnuson

Holly Magnuson works with college students, faculty, and staff members in California helping them move from “naming to aiming” their Strengths in their day to day life.

The goal early in the coaching relationship is for the client to move beyond looking at their Themes individually but at how they complement each other: Theme Dynamics. This is an exercise that I added to my practice after my coaching session with Jo Self. In the exercise, I attempted to have clients choose a word from “The Role I Play” box of their number one Talent Theme and then a word from “Descriptive Words” section for Talent Themes two through five.

The problem was that many times clients would get lost on which box to look at when or they would get distracted with the other information. This problem had me to the point of trying to develop my own worksheet. But I really didn’t have the time or desire to do it. Then I downloaded the newest version of Cascade in early December and found the “Power of Me” option. I was so excited, I think I actually shouted out loud!

The layout of The Power of Me sheet helps the client narrow their focus to this one area of development: Theme Dynamics. The layout of the sheet is familiar as most of my clients have worked with Excel spreadsheets, so this adds an important visual aspect. As the client writes or types their roles with their descriptive words they begin to see the power of Theme Dynamics. I’m excited to see how this tool helps my clients go from the naming their Talents to combining them together to really aim them at the things they want to accomplish.

A New Perspective – Ron Johnson

Ron Johnson is an experienced faith-based coach who works with the international charity The Voice of the Martyrs from his hometown in California.

Exploring the concept of The Power of Me on himself first, Ron circled three key descriptive words and three key role words within each of his Top 5 Signature Themes. Then for each of his themes, he combined one descriptive word and one role word. The results for his themes of Responsibility®, Learner® and Analytical®, gave him:

  • Dependable Volunteer
  • Studious Committer
  • Dispassionate Responder
Using The Power of Me in Wellbeing Coaching

Ron writes: “I used the Power of Me with a faith-based leadership team who manages their own staff team. Our coaching session helped each of them identify their own Descriptive Words and Roles for their personal wellbeing and as a manager. Their new Gallup Theme Dynamic!

Ron received some great feedback from the team:

#1  My new theme dynamic, from the Power of Me, describes how I do my personal hiking!

#2 I like how combining two of my individual themes makes a new powerful combination of themes.

#3 In the past I only looked at one theme at a time. This gives me an entire new way of seeing how I can use my themes!

#4 This can help me explain in a new way, why I do what I do, when I pair up two themes!

I want to thank Richard Sterry of Cascade for adding the new Gallup CliftonStrengths® chart “The Power of Me” – the combination of Descriptive Words and Roles.

Looking ahead to 2021

Performance SeQuEnCe

Personal Performance SeQuEnCe strengths

Working with Dries Lombaard and Joe Holloway, we’ve developed a new worksheet that assesses the impact of your strengths in relation to performance. By considering four different aspects, Dries’ SeQuEnCe model explores how your themes might aid or hinder your progress of working towards a goal.

The SeQuEnCe performance elements are:

  • Speed
  • Quality
  • Endurance
  • Creativity

Discover more about the Performance SeQuEnCe in the Theme Advantage section of Cascade.

The Power of Me

Do you want to understand more about your inner power? Our new Power of Me worksheet cleverly draws out the power phrases from your top five themes. By combining these Descriptive Words with your Role I Play Statements, you’ll gain new insights and see what opportunities exist to build on the power of your themes.

This worksheet is adapted from the Power of 2. Find out more about The Power of Me.

Cascade in German

Working with a global team of coaches, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the new German Language Pack. This third language option for Cascade adds to the existing French and Spanish Language Packs.

German strengths Cascade language

We had a battle to squeeze the longer German words and theme names into the Cascade report structure. But thanks to everyone’s help, we managed it!

Thank you to Gallup Licensing and coaches Nicole Seichter, Marisol von Appen, Ralph Rickenbach, Andrzej Pyrka and Kathrin Griebsch for making the German version possible.

The Benefits of Strengths at Home

Understanding and building on our strengths is powerful individually. It helps personally as well as professionally. But just like how focusing on strengths within a team multiplies the effect, the same is true at home.

One of the many coaches making a difference to their community is Murray Guest. Murry lives near Newcastle, Australia and runs Inspire my Business. He writes:

In many programs, participants ask if their partner can also complete the strengths assessment. Of course, I say yes! I go on to explain the positive and helpful impact of knowing my strengths and my wife’s strengths has had. How it’s helped our communication, parenting, management of our house and generally making each other right. I also share many stories of other participants who have had similar experiences.

Once my clients’ partners have completed their CliftonStrengths® assessment, I provide them with the Power of 2 and Personal Insights worksheets. These tools from Cascade help them on their strengths-based journey as a couple and enable deeper, more meaningful conversations.
